Yes as compared to other congee / porridge stall in the vicinity, Ming Kee is no doubt the best. Pork porridge came with balls of marinated minced meat and was so tasty. Condiments like fried fritters, shredded ginger , spring onions, pepper and sesame oil were all available at the counter. Since its end of the business day, the generous lady poured a wholesome amount of fritters onto my bowl. Porridge was really good but when can I have such luck again to try on others kinds of congee? Slice Fish Fish Head Seafood Soup? A stall with no name to be found even after having a hard time searching for it at every corner of the stall. My visit to West Coast Market Square was very frequent, at least 10 times a month and this stall is one of the many stalls that draws the crowd especially during meal times. Everytime, without fail, I get to see a neat queue form in front of the stall. Adding their homemade meatballs is definitely recommended. The meatballs were made up of minced meat with hints of salted fish. Bouncy and delicious, goes very well with the soup. The slices of fish given was fresh and thick with a smooth textural feel. The STAR of the meal, the roasted chicken, was extremely moist, tender and succulent. The skin, while moist and slightly soggy was sinfully delicious, a thin layer of fat beneath it melting in your mouth with every bite. After my meal, I kind of regretted not ordering more roasted chicken and thinking of it now just makes me crave for more. If I could, I would have gladly ordered half a roast chicken just for myself. So for the Westies, if you have not tried this, you’re missing out. And for the rest of Singapore, truly worth giving their roast chicken a shot, just don’t make the same mistake as me 🙂 (Sean Chen from Burple)

#6 – Soon Lee Fishball Noodles

Introduction:

If you’re a fan of fishball noodles, you must visit Soon Lee Fishball Noodles at West Coast Food Centre. This humble hawker stall serves up a mean bowl of fishball noodles that will leave you craving for more.

The star of the show is the fishball, which is handmade daily using fresh fish. The fishballs are bouncy and chewy, with a deliciously savory taste that complements the noodles perfectly. The noodles are cooked to perfection, with just the right texture and springiness. The broth is light yet flavorful, making every slurp a delight.

In addition to the fishball noodles, Soon Lee also offers other dishes such as fish dumplings and fish cake. These dishes are equally delicious and worth a try.

So if you’re in the West Coast area and looking for a tasty and affordable meal, head over to Soon Lee Fishball Noodles at West Coast Food Centre. You won’t regret it!

A bowl of Fishball Noodle ($2.50/$3) comes with some fish cake slices, fishball. meatball and a bit of minced meat. The noodle here is only decent with a rustic taste. If I a not wrong, the fishball and meatball should be factory supplied. The fishball is indeed very springy and bouncy but I hardly tasted any fish flavour in it. It even comes with a bit of saltiness that seems quite common with factory made fishball. The meatball fares better with its taste and texture. (Sgfoodonfoot.com)

Menu Items: Price start from $2.50

  • Fishball Noodle (Soup)
  • Fishball Noodle (Dry)
  • MInced Meat Noodle
  • Fishball Soup

#7 – Heng Li Noodle House

Introduction:

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy authentic and delicious Chinese noodles, you should definitely check out Heng Li Noodle House. This family-owned restaurant has been serving up fresh and flavorful dishes since 2010, and they have a loyal fan base of customers who can’t get enough of their noodles. Whether you prefer spicy or mild, meaty or vegetarian, thick or thin noodles, Heng Li Noodle House has something for everyone. You can choose from a variety of sauces and toppings to customize your bowl of noodles, or try one of their signature dishes like the beef noodle soup, the dan dan noodles, or the cold sesame noodles. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable, so you’ll get a satisfying meal without breaking the bank. Plus, the service is friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is cozy and casual. Heng Li Noodle House is a great spot to grab a quick lunch or a relaxing dinner with your friends or family. You’ll love their noodles so much that you’ll want to come back again and again!

The appearance of the Wanton Mee ($3) reminds me of the now defunct Kok Kee at Lavender. The wanton mee style is the more saucy type. For a three dollar portion, the char siew is rather generous. However it is a bit dry and too lean. The noodle is actually quite springy with a good bite to it. However I think the auntie which blanched the noodle did not quite rinsed off the blanching water from the noodle, causing the sauce to be diluted with a tad of alkaline taste. The chilli sauce was also mediocre. (Sgfoodonfoot.com)

Menu Items: Price start from $3

  • Prawn Noodle
  • Prawn Mee Pok
  • Laksa
  • Lor Mee

It’s a hidden gem that will satisfy your taste buds and make you feel at home. So what are you waiting for? Grab your friends and head over to Hani Food Stall today!

Not the most fantastic Mee Rebus I had. The best I had was many years back at Bugis Junction Foodcourt (the one at the basement level) which has now moved to the 3rd level. Sadly, the stall that sold Mee Rebus has since ceased operations. Therefore, my Mee Rebus cravings can never be satisfied.

I was excited to find Food King’s review on Hani Food Stall. And even more so when Deekosh mentioned that the Mee Rebus was ‘Robust’! Thought I gave it a try and I did. As I have said earlier, it was not the most fantastic but they are very affordable. So if you are on budget and craving for some Mee Rebus, this plate is decent. (Gracee TLM from Burple)
