Learn More about EUK134 by The Ordinary
The pocket money price tag of this formula belies its incredible potency – in fact, EUK 134 is one of the strongest antioxidants available, which can regenerate itself to offer round-the-clock defence from free radical damage. Neglected by the mass market, The Ordinary is bringing this innovative ingredient straight to your radiance regime – at an ultra-high (0.1%) concentration to maximise the age-defying effects.

Technology behind EUK-134
EUK-134™ is a mimetic of superoxide dismutase and catalase, forming an exceptionally rare self-regenerating molecule that scavenges superoxide free radicals, eliminates hydrogen peroxide and converts reactive oxygen species into water and oxygen. While it has been around for many years, very few products on the market do use this truly superb antioxidant which can regenerate itself to offer round-the-clock antioxidant support. The only issue with EUK-134™ is that it must not be used immediately with strong acids such as suspensions of Ascorbic Acid. Strong acids will completely destroy EUK-134™ which is based on manganese.
The low price of this formula does not reflect EUK-134™’s extremely high potency. EUK-134™ is by far one of the strongest antioxidants available. While EUK-134™ itself is very costly, the suggested concentration in any formula is below 0.05% and most formulas do not use this maximum suggestion. Our formula uses EUK-134™ at an extremely high 0.1% concentration and we do not believe any product on the market today uses a higher concentration than this amount. This formula does not contain any water, silicones, oils or alcohol. Water can impair the stability of any antioxidant.
The Ordinary’s antioxidant offering includes Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%. If you wish to take advantage of both formulas, either use them at different times or apply each in a separate step since acids and EUK-134™ should not be mixed together. EUK-134™ can also be mixed with most products such as Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA for a strong antioxidant boost.
How to Use
Apply alone or after water-based serums, before oils or heavier creams. Alternatively, mix with other treatments to enhance their antioxidant capacity significantly. Do not use with highly acidic formulations such as suspensions of ascorbic acid.
Calms my dry, sensitive, eczema-prone skin –
I have regretted not repurchasing this product after it ran out! I initially bought it to see if adding it to my regiment could help improve my skin barrier, because my face is extremely dry, reactive/sensitive and at that time was covered in eczema (probably due to a combo of perimenopause and some very stressful life events).
NOTE; I changed/added one product at a time, so I could tell what the effect was. After adding the EUK 134, my regimen consisted of:
– Squalene cleanser
– Hyaluronic acid + b5 applied to wet skin after rinsing off cleanser
– EUK 134
– TO Moisturizer (which I can never remember the name of – hydrating something something ;))
– a few drops of oil (I normally use a mix of hemp oil and other oils like rosehip and sea buckthorn)
My skin did get red and warm initially, but that dissipated after about 15-20 minutes. After a few days of use, I noticed that my skin was less reactive to cold or heat, and a lot calmer overall. After about a week, my eczema was pretty much gone, and my skin continued to feel calmer – no more dryness and itchyness!
And then I made the mistake of not repurchasing (what was I thinking??) My routine otherwise has not changed, but the eczema is back! Buying again RIGHT NOW. If your skin is very reactive, do try it! If it’s too strong, try mixing it with your moisturizer.
PS DECIEM, why is there no option “sensitivity/reactivity” in the dropdown menu when selecting products?? Us sensitive creatures want to be able to select only those products that are less likely to sting and burn and make our eyes water, please!! (Yes, that has happened to me – I applied a face mask from an unnamed brand, ahem, and immediately had to wash it off with cold water because it stung so bad it made me howl and made my eyes water!)
