One of the biggest and busiest wet markets and food centre in Singapore, Geylang Serai Market and Food Centre is both a vital social hub and a great place to expand your culinary horizons with some traditional Malay cuisine. Introduction: Otak-Otak Kampon Wak Murset seems like a joint that really know what they’re doing. Their main product is of course – otah-otah. In fact, it’s “100% Otak-Otak Kelapa Anak Melayu”.

#2 – Cendol Geylang Serai

Introduction: Establish in 1952, well known for their authenticity dessert consist of fresh coconut milk. Well known for our their crunchy & savoury rempeyek since 2010. Cendol Geylang Serai is one of Singapore’s pioneers in Indonesian-style cendol. It’s loved here by many for its creaminess and silky smooth pandan jelly noodles. The chendol here isn’t sprinkled with typical toppings like attap seeds, red beans, or durian slices, letting you enjoy the sweetness of pure coconut milk.

Introduction: Pak Din Nasi Ayam Bakar is named after the proprietor ’s father . They have been serving only Nasi Ayam Bakar for the last 5 years and it appears that they have no intention of stopping. They have been serving chargrilled Nasi Ayam Bakar ever since. The Nasi Ayam Bakar is their main dish and has been for the past 5 years. The chicken is the star of the show, the sauces are definitely the supporting characters. The Kicap Manis is sickly sweet and viscous, coating the chicken. The fried shallots help add to the texture, giving it a pleasant crunch on each bite!

#4 – Azizah Briyani

Introduction: These cooks individualize a serving of briyani on a massive platter with a bowl of dalcha and fruit acar. Quite a sizeable slice I may say for a good reason it is comparatively pricier than the other stall at Geylang Marketplace offering briyani. When you put the meat, rice, dalcha and acar all together and take a great big mouthful, this actually makes up a pretty good plate of briyani. Maybe the individual elements have their own ups and downs but the sum of its parts makes this briyani pretty delicious.

Introduction: Geylang Market Stall serves Pan Briyani Ayam, the only dish on its menu. The portion size is great, and the portions themselves are even greater than standard; besides the standard serving of rice and serving of roasted chicken, rice is piled on on top of that, and chicken curry is ladled on top, making both a hearty and an indulgent meal.

#7 – Alhambra Heritage & Original Satay Club

Introduction: The most famous stall that calls itself Alhambra Satay is the original of a couple that claim to identify Alhambra as their origin. This one can be traced back to the Satay Club that used to be adjacent to the closed Alhambra Cinema along Beach Road. If you happen to visit the stall during off-peak hours, you may spot Encik Saiful twisting the meat and rewarding satay by hand. He still divides the meat and chooses to spear satay by hand. The Secret spices are still all made in-house so they maintain the heirloom recipe.
