6. Treetop Therapy

Features:

About Company:

From birth, babies are aware of the sounds around them and begin to attach meaning to different sounds. As a child becomes older, they recognize sounds (speech sounds) as speech and develop an understanding of words they hear. These listening skills are very important for learning and social development. Children need to be able to listen and attend to incoming communication in order to develop their speech and language skills as well as develop friendships with peers.

Some children may experience difficulties with listening due to hearing difficulties, language delays, difficulty processing information or difficulty focusing on one thing at a time.

Children with attention & Listening Difficulties may have the following characteristics:
–    Appear to not be listening
–    Frequently interrupt or talk when they should be listening
–    Appear confused or do not know what to do when instructions are given

7. Speech Bubbles

Features:

  • Assessment
  • Home-based therapy
  • School/ online therapy

About Company: Speech Bubbles is a private home-based speech therapy service for children and adolescents with speech and language difficulties. They strongly believe in a dynamic, holistic and functional approach to therapy. All their therapists are registered with Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).

Learning speech and language is optimised through a dynamic approach. Acquired skills would then be more readily generalised and implemented in day to day exchanges. A dynamic approach would also help children ‘learn to think’, and make sense of the world around them; by teaching them to gather available information, processing details and constantly gaining new revelations. Static drills have their place in the process of learning but here at Speech Bubbles, they believe that therapy is so more than just acquiring a skill, it is preparing the child for the future.

The development of the whole child is essential in ensuring a child’s wellbeing, learning and growth. Holistic development occurs when the child is cared for in these 3 main major domains: Communication, Psychosocial and Physical Self. Here at Speech Bubbles, they consider all aspects of a child’s development and aim to help your child develop holistically, to be a balanced and well-equipped individual to take on life’s challenges.

A skill learnt is only as useful as it is functional. Often, children are able learn new words and concepts and use them well in school but have difficulty using these words/ concepts in their day to day communication. Here at Speech Bubbles, they believe in integrating skills learnt with the daily exchanges and routines. This approach has a higher efficacy in learning speech and language skills and further promotes a better generalisation of skills learnt.

About Company:

At Dynamics Speech they can provide professional and evidence based speech therapy for children. This usually takes place in the clinic, but occasionally they may also visit the child’s home or school if necessary.

When a child is growing up, their speech and language gives them access to the world and people around them. They learn to communicate with other people, and shape their own thoughts with words, phrases and sentences.

Some children have difficulty with this. This can be because their speech sounds are not clear, or because their language development needs a helping hand. The earlier this is addressed the better for the child. If you have any concerns about your child’s speech or language development, it is very important to talk to a speech and language therapist about it.

When a child attends speech and language therapy, you can be assured that each session has been designed specifically for your child’s individual level of ability, interests, and goals.
