Top 10 Best Boardgame Cafes in Singapore

The Best Boardgame and Tabletop Game Cafes for Hours of Addictive Fun with Friends!

Once upon a time board games were synonymous with boredom; something you only dragged out if the internet was down or if you really had nothing to do on Christmas Day or Chinese Lunar New Year. Not anymore: they’ve had something of a cool makeover in recent years, and as we all get more and more sick of staring at our phones all day long, board games are a great way to connect with friends and let off some steam, and most importantly, have some fun without going into the digital realm.

The Tropika Club team outlines the best boardgames and tabletop games cafes in Singapore.

4. Experience Point

Description:

Remember terrible boardgames like Monopoly and Risk?  Remember how, despite the fact that they would often pack only a half-hour of fun into three long hours of waiting for someone to just win and put everyone else out of their misery, you would still go back to them time and time again because there was something special, something almost magical, about gathering around a table and playing boardgames with your friends and family?

At Experience Point, we love tabletop games: be they boardgames, card games, or pen-and-paper roleplaying games, as long as they can be played on a table, we love them (and probably have them in our library of 200+ games).  We would love for you to experience the same joy and wonder that we felt when we first encountered the modern boardgaming revolution; and, at just $4 per hour (to a maximum of $12 per day!), there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t.

No word of a lie, we timed the walk ourselves.  Click on the video above for a video walkthrough, or here if you prefer badly-written text directions.

If somebody’s driving you here, it’s closer for you to stop at Jalan Besar Stadium, just outside the entrance to the People’s Association building, then follow these badly written instructions. If you’re driving yourself, park at the multi-storey carpark located at 808 French Road, go to level two, and then fumble your way towards the adjacent Blk 803.

Xpidemix Marketplace gives customers the opportunity to sell or trade away their older games, miniatures or collectibles on a focused online marketplace area. 9. Game State

Description:

Game State Singapore is the brain child of Jacki. For four decades she indulged her four children (three boys and a girl) as they accompanied her on her work trips to seek out the latest miniatures board games. Together they lugged box sets from Australia, UK, USA etc, some taller than they were. Many hours were spent in the family’s craft room reading up on the latest lores, rulebooks and assembling those miniatures.

In the last decade, she guided and influenced her grand-children to jump on the bandwagon to the point of them being as fanatical as their parents. Jacki started Game State Singapore to share with the local gaming community a safe and clean environment for gamers of all ages. She often jumps with joy when she sees 4 yr olds come by the shop to ignite a life-long passion.

Oh did we mention that she started gaming four decades ago as a student in the UK? Another motivation for starting Game State as a brick and mortar shop was to provide female gammers with an inviting environment to enjoy miniature board games.
