Neil Stuart Automotive was formed in 1992 in Talfourd Place Waltham – James Holvey worked for Neil for 9 years prior to purchasing the business in November 2009. The building at Talfourd place was destroyed in the February 2011 Canterbury Earthquakes – James quickly decided to make a move to a new premises at 84 Falsgrave St and with the amazing help of friends / clients and family members he was up & running again within 4 weeks of the massive event. State Insurance were flabbergasted how they did it but it all came together so easily – one of the few workshops open and able to serve the public during this terrible time.
James has decided now is the time to change the name of the business to re-brand and build his own entity, their newer clients will appreciate that the old name has little bearing on the scope of the business these days.
James Holvey is a fully qualified automotive technician with WOF authority, his time was carried out in steering / suspension & light engineering at Automotion in Dunedin, having now been a Cantabrian for 14 years – he has two young sons with his wife Catherine.
You will notice Ford Zephyr Mk3’s from time to time in and around the workshop, one of James’ passions growing up, in fact his first words were ‘old car old car’ after spotting a rusting classic behind a hedge on a day trip.
