Lifestyle Blogs in Wellington New Zealand

#1 – The Residents

Introduction:

“I’m Lucy Revill, author and founder of The Residents. Nice to meet you.

I’ve spoken with some of New Zealand’s most talented ‘residents’ over the years – like Tom Scott, Ruby Jones and Chloe Swarbrick. I’ve been published on The Spinoff, in The Sunday Star Times and in The Dominion Post.

My first book The Residents: Made in Wellington was released in November 2020. It made The Spinoff/ Unity Books Bestseller list. You can find out more about how it was successfully funded on PledgeMe here.

There’s also a community drive I started to encourage people to donate toiletries to Wellington City Mission called ‘Soap for Society’ which is running this year 13 – 27 September. You can find out more here.

After 5 years, 1 million page views and 500K visitors I’ve finally decided to hang up my blogger hat. THANK YOU. It’s been a blast!

As such, I am no longer actively updating this website every week (or working on The Residents Project), I am keeping it online to serve whomever might find it useful, funny or insightful.

I’m still interviewing and writing, just for other peoples publications.

If you’d like to stay in touch, you can contact me here.”

Remember to keep meeting new faces, taste everything and explore wherever you go – even if it’s in your own backyard.

Yours,

Lucy x

#4 – Lost in Silver Fern

Introduction:

Hello! Welcome to Lost in Silver Fern.

“My name is Josie, and I live in Wellington, New Zealand but I am not originally from here, I moved here in 2016 and I created this blog to share stories of my time in the city and my experience of making the big move to New Zealand.

When I moved to Wellington from London and was going through the whole “visa process” I found it really hard to find good examples of people who had done the same. So I thought why don’t share my own experience in the hope that I can help others, so here we are!

To find out more about why I made the move to New Zealand, check out my post: Why Move to New Zealand?

As well as my moving to NZ experience and tips for Wellington life, on Lost in Silver Fern you will also find my love of culture, sustainable living and travel as well as some of my innermost personal thoughts and experiences. And, now we are in a post pandemic world, I am sharing my stories and experiences of being an expat in New Zealand throughout the Pandemic.

I hope you enjoy being here and find something useful, or even just interesting. And please say hello, I LOVE hearing from and connecting with readers.”

Thank you so much for being here and do come back soon!

Peace and Love

#5 -Nicola Easterby

Introduction:

WELCOME TO POLKADOT PASSPORT!
“I’m Nicola, an Aussie-born photographer, adventurer and foodie.

I took my first overseas trip to Cambodia at the age of 15 and my restless feet haven’t been able to stay in one place since. After high school, I abandoned the conventional path of going to university and getting full-time job. Instead, I decided to pursue my passion for travel and photography, and Polkadot Passport was born in 2014. In the six years that followed, I travelled to over 50 countries and managed to turn travel blogging into my full-time career.

I started this blog as a source of travel inspiration and information for adventurous souls. By sharing unique bucketlist experiences, comprehensive destination guides, travel photography tips and more, the goal of Polkadot Passport has always been to inspire people to explore the beautiful world we live in.”

THE EVOLUTION OF POLKADOT PASSPORT
“In 2020, the dreaded pandemic hit. My life went from constant globetrotting to being perpetually housebound. The silver lining was that this time at home allowed me to discover my love for cooking. If I couldn’t physically travel to other countries, I figured I could still explore the world from the confines of my kitchen.

All of a sudden, I had the idea to cook one dish from each of the 196 countries in the world. I asked my best friend (and fellow foodie) Floss if she’d undertake the challenge with me, and she was crazy enough to agree. We spent the following year developing the recipes you’ll find on here, each one inspired by a different cuisine.

Now, Polkadot Passport is no longer a space just for globetrotters. It is also a place for adventurous home cooks who want to explore the world through cooking. Whether you are hopping on a plane or hopping into the kitchen, come and join my global adventures!”

#9 – Meagan

Introduction:

Kia ora, I’m Meagan! She started this blog in 2012 when she was a 28-year-old design and visual art student, as a creative outlet where I could talk about fashion and beauty. in march 2013, she sat down and tried to figure out what made me different from the hundreds of other fashion and beauty bloggers in New Zealand. Do you know what makes her different? Her experience as a fat woman. She started blogging specifically about plus size fashion for two main reasons- the first is that obviously she is a plus size woman herself, and as someone who has been fat all of my adult life she understands how difficult it is to find nice clothes for plus sizes in New Zealand that are reasonably priced. The second is that there were no existing dedicated independent plus-size fashion media outlets in New Zealand. No magazines, no blogs, nothing. And so, she decided to step into that gap.

On her blog, you’ll find lots of fashion and style-related posts, but only things she experienced as a plus-size woman- talking about everything from body image to skincare to travel. She also got you covered with tips on where to shop, as well as discount codes and where to find the best plus size sales.
