#1 – Halia

Introduction:

Halia (Malay for ginger) is located in the one-hectare Ginger Garden of the Singapore Botanic Gardens where over 250 species of gingers with their stunning foliage and colourful flowers thrive. The construction of Halia was carried out simultaneously with the development of the Ginger Garden in the year 2000. Careful consideration was given to the special park setting, such that architecture conformed to the contours of the land, the dignity of mature trees and the preservation of heritage.

In 2001, the Halia was officially opened. The result is an unobtrusive dining room with full height glass windows, beckoning the greenery indoors, and allowing guests to dine in the Garden whilst still comfortably ensconced in cool surroundings. Decades-old majestic palm trees stand like sentries, guardian-witness to the earthy beauty that is the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

#2 – Corner House

Introduction:

Founded in 2014, Corner House is the articulation of a culinary vision by creative restaurateur and wine aficionado Renny Heng. Recognizing the potential of the conserved Black and White Colonial House, he set about putting together a team that was as passionate as himself to create a distinctive destination for dining.

Spaciously appointed for up to 46 guests, the two-storey house surrounded by nature seems purposed built for relaxation and comfort. Its wide welcoming verandas and vestibules have become beckoning nooks, whether for business hosting or intimate get-togethers, with luminous natural light during the day and the soft glow of lamps in the evenings.

Since the debut of the Singapore Michelin Guide, Corner House has been awarded one Michelin star each year from 2016. It was also listed in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2016 and ranked 42nd in 2020.

#9 – Relish – Wild Rocket

Introduction:

After working as a lawyer for 8 years, Willin (the chef) left the practice of law in 2005 to pursue his dream and open Wild Rocket. Since Wild Rocket’s opening, Willin has been named by the New York Times as one of three chefs in Singapore who were “reinventing the city’s traditional food culture”, he was also chosen by the Financial Times as one of Singapore’s best chefs.

Back in 2006, there weren’t any places serving burgers using good quality ingredients, so they decided to serve burgers that we would make at home. They know not everyone is into burgers, so there is also a range of brunch-inspired dishes & pasta to suit most fancies on their menu.
