Best Eats at Chong Pang Food Center

#1 – Chuan Kee Boneless Braised Duck

Introduction:The braising sauce adds flavor to every strand of rice and sufficiently let’s each grain of rice be identifiable. A sign of a well-colored rice. Now for the show – the duck. We were amazed at how tender the duck became as a result of the braising sauce penetrating deeply into the meat.  Pure perfection when the duck meat is eaten with the sauce.

  • Half Braised Duck (Price $19)
  • Braised Pork (Price $3)
  • Duck Rice Set (Price $5)
  • Duck Noodle (Price $5)

#3 – Super Penyet Singapore

Introduction: Started in 2009, our first outlet was called Warong Penyet Super selling our signature nasi ayam penyet. The business then grew with the opening of our second outlet, Super Corner, which caters to the office workers in the industrial area. We also cater for events for weddings, company meetings, and seminars by offering mini-bentos, buffet sets, and high-tea spreads.

We have always been well-known for our nasi ayam penyet and nasi lemak sambal, so we decided to firm up our company brand under a new name that highlights the food that our company has been famous for over the years. Thus in 2016 our company was rebranded under the new name Super Penyet Singapore.

Through the years, we have stayed true to our company’s mission of using only quality ingredients and serving fresh and great tasting food that reminds our customers of the taste of home. Due to the overwhelming demand from customers over the years, we started selling our two signature sambal in bottles under the brand Super Sambal.

#6 – Blessing Seafood White Bee Hoon

Introduction: From this new stall at Chong Pang Food Centre named Blessing Seafood White Bee Hoon that sells different varieties of Lala White Bee Hoon; think Crayfish, Sliced Fish and Flower Crab variants. A rather generous portion for small at $5, the white bee hoon here is slightly different from the one at You Huak Restaurant/The White Restaurant — instead of a Hor Fun-like gravy served at the latter, this features a slightly more flavourful version of what would be expected of a bee hoon soup especially with its more liquid soup. Ingredients were actually rather fresh especially for the sliced fish, and the fried garlic helps add a little texture to the dish. The chili does help to flavour the soup a bit if one requires a little bit more flavour — its tanginess and spiciness definitely helps to amp things up quite a bit for the bee hoon.

Menu Items:

  • Lala Prawn White Bee Hoon (Price $6)
  • Sliced Fish White Bee Hoon  (Price $5)
  • Lala Flower Crab White Bee Hoon (Price $15)
  • Lala Cray Fish White Bee Hoon (Price $10)

#7 – Guan Heng Cooked Food

Introduction: Satay bee hoon is just a dish of rice vermicelli, cuttlefish, fried beancurd puffs, cockles and kang kong topped with spicy, peanut-like chili sauce. The sauce is only mildly spicy and is similar to a sauce used in rojak.  The distinguishing factor in satay been hoon is the peanut sauce. Guan Heng Cooked Food’s peanut sauce is thick and has just the right balance of spiciness and sweetness.

Menu Items:

  • Satay Bee Hoon (Price $4/$5)
  • Fried Carrot Cake (Price $3)
  • Fish Ball Noodles (Price $3.50/$4)
  • Mushroom Minced Meat Noodles (Price $3)

#9 – Nee Soon Fish Head Mee Hoon • Mee Hoon Kway

Introduction: This stall sells mee hoon kway, sliced fish soup, and porridge. I reckoned the best selling meal here is the mee hoon kway. The $4 ban mian bowl was served with sliced lean pork, minced pork, choy sum and topped up with crispy anchovies. The broth was flavourful, and the noodles cooked al denté. Recommended!

#10 – Old Chong Pang Wuxiang

Introduction: This stall in Chong Pang has been serving the dish for over 30 years, and still makes their signature pieces by hand. Queues at dinner can reach up to 45 minutes, and the quality of frying can be inconsistent at times. When perfectly executed however, the prawn cracker fritters are fantastic, crisp with mild sweet savoury shrimpy flavour. The bouncy tofu beancurd carries lovely grainy sweet savoury flavour, and the juicy pork and liver 5 spice rolls have nice meaty savoury salty spice bitter mineral earthy notes (if not over-fried). Wish they gave more chili though. Note that there is a deposit upon order due to the long waiting time. Personally, I think they attract a crowd because of nostalgia.

Menu Items:

  • Bee Hoon Set – Minimum 3 items ( Price From $2.20 )
  • Wu Xiang Platter – Minimum 4 items ( Price From $0.10 )

Location: 105 Yishun Ring Rd, #01-166, 760105, Singapore 760105
