Dr Lim has also received training in Voice Craft ® and as a musician herself, she understands the intimate needs of the vocalist and why proper voice care is essential to prevent vocal disorders.
Dr Lim is a strong proponent for multidisciplinary work and in 2008, she received the Gold Award at the Singhealth Allied Health Innovative Practice Award in collaboration with dieticians at Changi General Hospital to improve the oral intake of malnourished patients with swallowing difficulties. Her elevated clinical competence through continuing professional education has helped improve the communication skills and quality of life for many clients. Motivated by her special commitment and interest in literacy skills in the Down syndrome population, Dr Lim decided to pursue higher research by embarking on a PhD. Dr Lim presented a research study investigating predictors of reading comprehension in Down syndrome at the 8th Asia Pacific Conference on Speech, Language and Hearing in Christchurch, NZ, 2011.
