#1 – Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park

Introduction:

As one of the largest urban parks in central Singapore, Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park is a great place for families to have a fun day out. Under the PUB’s Active, Beautiful and Clean Waters (ABC) Programme, the old concrete canal has been de-concretised and naturalised into a beautiful 3 km meandering river with lush banks of wildflowers. Aside from its unique waterways, the park features lush greenery, Pond Gardens and River Plains, making it a popular choice with nearby residents for recreational activities.

With open lawns and gently sloping grassy banks along either side of the river, families can have picnics and gatherings while enjoying the beauty and tranquillity of the waterways. The 62-hectare park is also home to a wide array of interesting fauna and flora, making it ideal for nature lovers. Fitness enthusiasts can cycle or jog along the well-maintained tracks, accompanied by the soothing babble of the river.

#2 – The Rail Corridor

Introduction:

The 24 km long Rail Corridor is a continuous green passage that allows wildlife movement between major green spaces. It also serves as a recreational corridor for all members of the public, and is divided into three main sections, Central, Southern and Northern.

As it is an important ecological corridor, the Rail Corridor is not lit at night to facilitate nocturnal wildlife movement. Lighting is only provided at certain access points, essential walking paths and benches leading to the public restrooms and Bukit Timah Railway Station building and Railway Staff Quarters.

How to get there:

  1. The best way to reach the start of the Rail Corridor is to take a bus to Melati Blk 2 Bus Stop

  3. Start at Buona Vista MRT station to miss out the southernmost 7 km so you only have 17 km to walk

#3 – Tanjong Beach, Sentosa

Introduction:

Revered for its white sandy shoreline, the man-made Tanjong Beach is nestled pristinely on Sentosa Island of Singapore. It is less crowded as compared to the other two touristic beaches on Sentosa, and attracts people who come here to take a break from the chaotic life of the city.

Families with young children also find this beach interesting as there are quite a few activities to engage here, like, frisbee playing and building sandcastles. The sickle-shaped Tanjong Beach features a beach bar/club – the Tanjong Beach Club – where visitors can unwind, listening to music and sipping on cocktails and other beverages.

Tiong Bahru Bakery Safari is a safari-themed cafe located in the heart of a tropical garden along Minden Road. The cafe sits next to farm-to-table restaurant Open Farm Community, a long-standing Dempsey favourite.

Introduction:
