Sweet Red is a third generation Strawberry farm owned and operated by the Marinovic Family since 1974. The farm is famous for producing “Sweet Red” Strawberries “The World’s Best Strawberries” – Auckland Strawberries. The farm is located in Helensville in Auckland and the farm shop is located in Westgate. At the farm shop, you are able to buy their strawberries, along with real fruit strawberry ice-cream, strawberry and blueberry smoothies, milkshakes and juices. The Pick Your Own (PYO) strawberry season starts from Boxing day and is located at the farm in Helensville.

#10 – MAGS Farm

Introduction:

The ASB MAGS Farm has been an integral part of Mount Albert Grammar School since 1932, when the Bank purchased the land and leased it back to the School at a peppercorn rental. You can read more about the history of the farm here

It is currently an 8.1 hectare working farm featuring a variety of livestock and a classroom centre, educating 160 students annually from Years 10-13 in Agricultural and Horticultural Science and AgriBusiness.
In June 2015 the ASB announced development plans for the farm that include a world class teaching facility and Experience Centre. The School’s Board of Trustees agreed that management of the farm would be transferred to the MAGS Foundation to enable the farm’s development to be advanced.

The ASB MAGS Farm Advisory Committee has been established representing the Ministry of Primary Industries and key industry partners such as KPMG and Fonterra, to assist with the development of the Experience Centre. Day to day education on the farm will continue as usual.

Mr Brice will be driving the planning, design and funding of the $12 million Experience Centre, which will be the centrepiece of the farm and give students and visitors a world-class experience and educational environment with classrooms, an exhibition space and a seminar area. In concert with that, the farm itself will be redeveloped with improved fencing, pasture, drainage, irrigation and land management, and cleaner waterways with native plantings.
