Yum Cha Restaurant first opened its doors in the heart of Chinatown. Yum Cha first started out in 2000 near Temple Street, Chinatown, with the aim of bringing back the dim sum tea house concept in a shophouse setting, with marble tables and wooden chairs for a nostalgic feel. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, Yum Cha Restaurants offer a unique dim sum dining experience – be it for lunch or dinner.

Famed for its large variety of dim sum, ranging from traditional recipes such as Fish Roe with Siew Mai and Xiao Long Bao, to some of their chef’s modern creations, such as Mango Prawn Sesame Fritters and Truffle Mushroom Bao. Yum Cha Restaurants have also extended their menu to include in favourite local items and seafood dishes, such as their Salted Egg Prawns and Roasted Peking Duck.

With the same original theme at Chinatown, the branch at Changi Business Park used the same marble tabletops and solid teak chairs. The usage of red colour and concrete walls help to keep the ambience contemporary and inviting. Customers can also enjoy traditional Hong Kong roast meats along with their dim sum. An embodiment of the very essence, taste and character, Yum Cha continues to be a popular icon in Singapore.

Introduction:

Started in 1978, Beng Hiang Restaurant has since established itself as one of the best Hokkien restaurants in Singapore. Their chefs uphold years of culinary tradition, using only the choicest ingredients and preparing each dish with skills honed by decades of experience. Beng Hiang’s authentic Hokkien cuisine has gained both local recognition and international acclaim.

The name Beng Hiang has poetic origins: “茗香” points to an appreciation of the fragrance of tea and food, a poignant recollection of the simple, honest and welcoming dinners in mid-century Hokkien homes.

The history of Beng Hiang restaurant began with a simple desire – to bring people together with flavourful Singaporean Hokkien food. For over 40 years, their family-oriented establishment has known to offer authentic, nostalgia-driven dining experiences, even as their nation grew and changed around them. Their story has become a testament to the value of hard work and dedication in Singapore – and they still have many more years to come.

Their founder Mr Ng Han Kim was born in Singapore to immigrants from Jinjang, Fujian province.
